P-D2 began in the mid-to-late 1980s when Robert "MC 3-D" Stills returned to his native Seattle attending Texas Southern University and met Donnell "DJ 2Smooth" Jackson at the Safeway grocery on Genesee Street. The two young men formed a rapper/DJ duo and released their first track titled "The Situation Out Of Hand" in 1988 on the JROD Recordings record label. There were two more P-D2 singles on JROD Recordings, one in 1989 called "This Groove Is Movin" and another titled "Movement" which came out in 1990. This string of hits established P-D2 as one of the hardest and most important rap groups from Seattle. 3-D and 2Smooth recorded a full album and began shopping it to major labels. But suddenly in July of 1990, 3-D had to take care of some personal business that removed him from the scene for a while. JROD Recordings never released the album and it went into the vault. Now, thirty-one years later in 2021, Ever Rap/P.I.G. Records is proud to announce a limited partnership with JROD Recordings, which will release a beautiful deluxe vinyl edition of the lost 1990 P-D2 album titled Dopemuzik4thehead. This album is a powerhouse of social commentary, rap skill, and slammin' beats. DJ 2Smooth is a virtuoso on the Studio 440, and 3-D brings a deep old-school tone to his delivery. This is a magnificent rap artifact that captures the spirit of young Seattle in 1990. Get your copy today!
