about

After a successful Volume One in 1985 through the partnership of the Subway Magazine and Decibel Shock Records, the second volume of Metal Meltdown was in the cards. Fortunately, former Subway Publisher, David Ulysses Portnow opened up Ever Rat Records and grasped the opportunity. And in 1986, twelve more Washington State Metal Bands found out that when the needle hit the vinyl, the sounds of the entire state took hold.

Kil D’ Kor (Seattle / Puyallup): Jinxx (Kent): Poet’s Crown (Milton)

Passion Toy (Renton): Ruff Justice (Renton): Dehumanizers (Seattle)

Shock Treatment (Seattle): Show ‘n’ Tell (Mountlake Terrace)

DC Lacroix (Seattle) : Vadasy Jade (Seattle) : Attax (Maple Valley)

Coven (Mountlake Terrace)

In keeping with the tradition of Volume One, a band member would create the cover. Shock Treatment drummer Jim Kruize submitted his depiction of the ‘Space Needle in the Puget Sound’ and off to the pressing plant Metal Meltdown Volume Two went.

This historic 1986 release documents the history of the metal sounds in Washington State at the time. Much different than the modern-day metal of the current Seattle scene. Sequenced and Eq’ed by Queensryche engineer Tom Hall.
