about

It’s a very bizarre bubble-gum stretched type of glam rock that originates from the stages of Show & Tell. It is difficult to think of another hard rock band to compare them with, they were very original. Perhaps a cross between England’s Wrathchild and Scotland’s Bay City Rollers. Catchy hair band style themes are done very differently. The vocal styles of frontman JJ Shantell have been described as ‘hauntingly beautiful!’ Frank Zappa-style humor is present throughout. Texas-style sound on ‘Too Damn Bad!’ title track, ‘Overnight Sensation’ is a play on what every group in the world desires. Originally released on PIG subsidiary Ever Rat Records in 1988. The band was filled out with Steve Shantell, JJ’s brother on bass, two guitarists - Kenny Damon and Jimi Saint Bitchin. Show & Tell was short-lived but drummer Josh Sinder went on to play for Accused, Tad, Gruntruck, and the Insurgence. JJ Shantell is still very active. Once described as the ‘Ugliest Glam Band In The World,’ because of their demeanor. They dressed the ‘glam’ part but if one looked past the clothes they were noticeably tough kids who’d been through hell and a lot of sacrifices to get to where they were. They would’ve defeated Poison within the first few seconds of the first round if thrown in the UFC Octagon together. JJ would’ve landed the triangle-choke on Brett Michaels and still have been blurting out the lyrics to ‘Anybody’s Action!’ This is great party music and all-around fun. Show & Tell is one of the more famous glam bands to come from the Greater Seattle area.
