In 1985, four clinically insane teenagers from Olympia, Washington banded together under the name Death Squad to play very heavy music. By 1991 they had built quite a nasty reputation in the Northwest and caught the ears and eyes of the Ever Rat. Days later they were contracted to Ever Rat Records. Decades later the label morphed from a RAT to a PIG; the original CD release has become impossible to find and the members of Death Squad have obviously gone their separate ways. However, prior to disbanding, Death Squad did manage to record and release a second album, ‘Driving Blind,’ in 1993 which was also released on Ever Rat. (It was the first death metal record protesting the actions of driving high or intoxicated.)

After the breakup, the members Tom, Erik, Brian, and Jerry all went their separate ways. The drummer, Jerry Ziegler, went on to and still has an iconic performance career going. He has been pretty much touring internationally since Death Squad’s break up. Jerry has also drummed with Coven; his current band the Stuntmen, and reached the pinnacle of success of his with his legendary band Fitz of Depression.
